Did Disgraced Turks & Caicos Chief, Misick Fund A Hip Hop Magazine W/ Embezzled Funds?
NJ Court Documents reveal unusual ties to The Source Magazine Founder’s new publication raising eyebrows across the globe
Its amazing what kind of dirt and corruption a court document can uncover. Shoot, a site like The Smoking Gun has been able to carve out a nice little niche for themselves but sifting through the piles and piles of celebrity court papers for interesting little gems that expose the secrets of many.
One such document, has allegedly exposed former Turks and Caicos premier Michael Misick as a surprising financial backer and founding shareholder of Hip Hop Weekly, the three-year-old magazine. The revelation was uncovered as part of documents filed in a lawsuit in Newark, New Jersey’s federal court. Misick who is the domestic abusing ex-husband of smoking hot cougar, LisaRaye was chased from his post as premier of the exotic Caribbean country amidst a corruption scandal in which it was believed he used public funds for private gain. At the time the presiding British judge Sir Robin Auld accused Misick of adopting “spending habits once in office that far exceeded his salary and allowances.” Misick has of course always maintained his innocence despite resigning last year.
According to these newly uncovered documents, Misick allegedly invested roughly $800,000 in the publication in return for a 25% stake in the publication. Given the fact that the magazine launched around the same time his corruption case began to gather steam, some are questioning the source of the financing, namely FORBES.com.
The magazine was erected by David Mays and Raymond “Benzino” Scott. Mays founded The Source magazine in his Harvard dorm room and later linked up with Benzino who himself was accused in many Hip Hop circles of shady behavior and whom many assert poisoned the objectivity of the magazine eventually leading to the two being forced out. Hip Hop weekly was billed as the duo’s comeback.
According to Forbes Magazine Misick had a falling out with Mays and Scott and has filed a civil suit in New Jersey accusing Mays and Scott of fraud and embezzlement. Mays and Scott have apparently since counter-sued Misick alleging he unlawfully tried to seize control of Hip Hop Weekly and sell it perhaps to fund the defense of his corruption case in Turks and Caicos.

Let me sum it all up for you. It looks like the shady characters of Ray Benzino and David Mays solicited the help of Misick, the premier of Turks and Caicos. He himself a filthy cat may have embezzled funds from the country using his position as leverage to fund what the three of them hoped would be the next coming. Then the print industry collapsed, the dream not realized and everyone’s tight and pointing fingers.
