Guru Not Dead Afterall. Expected To Make A Full Recovery

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

Sorry rumor mongers, this one is going to live.

Yesterday I was chatting with Juan and we were talking about how the internet was exploding with rumors that rap legend Guru had died. The truth of the matter is that he did indeed suffer a massive heart attack which some outlets were reporting as cardiac arrest. From there people jumped the gun and next thing you know I’m seeing a ton of “R.I.P. Guru” tweets in my feed. Guru isn’t dead though.

Yesterday Guru underwent surgery on his heart and is not expected to make a full recovery. It may take a while but the chances of fans getting blessed with another Ganrstarr album just got a lot better.

The part that really bothered me about the whole thing is the rumors that Guru was dead. I don’t know if there is a worst rumor to spread. You would think that after the fake deaths of Chris Tucker, Jeff Goldbloom and Luther Vandross (of course he later died for real), people would check a source before making themselves look dumb.

One Response to Guru Not Dead Afterall. Expected To Make A Full Recovery

  1. Juan says:

I was pissed!!!!! DJ Premier has always been my musical inspiration and Jazzmataz was one of my favorite albums back in the day.

I saw all the tweets spreading like wildfire with the hash tag #RIPGURU. I mean I understand those that wanted to show respect and even those that wanted to be the first to report but I’m glad that QTip was able to reach Preemo in the hospital and quickly dispel the rumor. I’m just pissed at who felt the need to start it.
