Apple has officially confirmed its new tablet computer which it calls the iPad.

News is still coming in and we’ll update this post as it does but so far we know it runs the same operating system as the iPhone and thus will run iPhone apps. As far as looks, it basically looks like an over sized iPhone (above is a image).

Update: Here’s some specs…

It’s 0.5 inches thin and weighs just 1.5 pounds.

9.7″ screen with IPS display technology and full capacitive multi-touch.

iPad is powered by custom silicon a 1Ghz Apple A4 chip. iPad has 16 to 64 GB of built-in Flash memory. Features wi-fi 802.11n, accelerometer, compass and connectivity to iPods.

Up to 10 hours worth of battery life (with over a month of standby battery life).

I have no use for one of these myself, but for those of you who are planning on buying one:
    .
    WAIT!
    .
Apple has a long history of releasing a product, only to release a newer version with twice the memory at half the price a few months later.
    .
I can think of at least 3 or 4 times they’ve pulled this, pissing off all of the people who wait in line for a week to be the ‘first’ to buy one of their products.

i saw iPad and thought it was a cutting edge high tech feminine hygeine device…lol…
