I’m gonna assume that most of the readership of Highbrid Nation has no idea who Heidi Montag is. The only reason I know who she is is because I watch The Soup and she, along with her boyfriend with the flesh colored beard, are frequent butts of jokes on the program. What is she famous for you ask? She was one of the stars of the obviously scripted MTV “reality” show The Hills.

Heidi Wasn’t happy with just be another talentless celebrity though and she embarked on a new music career. The goal being that she was going to take Britney Spears spot as the top pop songstress using her reality star power and a jumping board to musical stardom.

Now the Soundscan numbers are in from the first week of sales of Heidi Montag’s debut album, Superficial and its not good. 658. Not 658 thousand. Just 658 copies sold. Basically she’s a semi-well known reality star and I know local rappers in junior high that are putting up bigger numbers. And it gets worse. Check this quote from Heidi from right before the album dropped.

“….I put every dollar I have into this. I’ve spent over $1 million, almost $2 million, on this album. It’s cost as much or more than a Britney Spears album because I wanted it to be that quality … (But) I think within the first week we will definitely make our money back. The songs will make an impact in pop history,”
