Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Mary J, John Legend Join Wyclef for Haiti benefit Telethon
Will air Friday night on almost every channel across the world.
Yesterday we told you about the Jay-Z/ Bono colabo on a track in support of Haiti (now revealed to be called Haiti Mon Amor aka Stranded) but now it appears the duo will take the partnership a step further. Along with a host of a-list artists including, Justin Timberlake, Coldplay, Alicia Keys and Bruce Springsteen they will participate in a special “Hope for Haiti Now: A Global Benefit for Earthquake Relief” telethon.
Sponsored by MTV the show will air live this Friday night (January 22) and air commercial-free on virtually every channel ( ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BET, the CW, HBO, MTV, VH1 PBS, TNT, Showtime, Comedy Central, Bravo, E! Entertainment Network, National Geographic Channel, Oxygen, G4, Centric, Current TV, Fuse, MLB Network, Epix, Palladia, SoapNet, Style, Discovery Health and Planet Green, as well as Canada’s CTV, CBC Television, Global Television and MuchMusic and CMT) Yeah so don’t plan on watching anything else on Friday night. The show is said to be available in 640 million homes worldwide.
Jay-Z and Rihanna will simulcast from London, while Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Shakira and Sting will join Wyclef Jean and Springsteen in New York. Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Timberlake, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift will be live from LA.
Donations collected from the telethon will directly benefit Oxfam America, Partners in Health, Red Cross, UNICEF and Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation (yes, despite all the hate.)

I sincerely hope the proceeds go to actually helpin them people instead of lining the pockets of someone already rich and/or wealthy.
