With the Pacquiao Fight Now Off, Could Mayweather Be Looking To Fight Rick Ross?!

Posted by Juan

Would you pay to see that? Maybe 50 can referee

Floyd Mayweather

As a pure boxing fan, I’m dissapointed but not surprised about the news that would-be epic March 13 super-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. is once again on ice as promoters failed to reach an agreement between the two camps over drug testing.

Naturally each side is pointing fingers at the other saying the opponent is running or scared.  Its all a bit too much posturing for me, almost like the WWE or something.  On the other hand I can understand the hesitation, both fighters regardless of who wins will likely be in for the fight of their lives but isn’t that what boxing is supposed to be about?  Remember those epic battles of the last 70s and 80′s between Hagler and Herns, Herns and Leonard?  Its all about being pretty now adays and trying to take fights where you not only win but in a perfect world don’t even take a punch.

Anyway, off my soap box.  With the fight now indefinitely called off, Pacquiao’s camp has been prepping him to fight Middleweight Title holding bum Yuri Foreman but who would be up for Mayweather?   Perhaps he might have found that very opponent during a New Year’s Even party.  While attending Diddy’s lavish shindig at the brand new Vanity nightclub in Mayweather’s backyard, Las Vegas, the boxer and his entourage had a run in with Rick Ross which almost escalated to a physical altercation.  The diplomatic Diddy playing the part of Washington Duke aka Don King from Rocky V splits them up and yelled “Only in the Ring.”  (Not really but it would have been cool if he did.)

Now how the altercation could have started but we do know that Rick Ross’ arch nemesis, 50 Cent is of course a close friend of Floyd Mayweather.  Ross of course took a slight jab at Floyd in his hit single “Mafia Music.” when he questioned the validity of Mayweather’s fortune, which is silly because unlike other professions everyone knows what athletes make.  Knowing the history, Floyd’s mouth, his probable frustration with the Pacquiao logistics, and an extended hiatus from the ring its not a stretch to assume he targeted the rolly polly Ross.  Would you pay to see that fight on Pay Per View?
