African American Woman Wins Copyright Suit Claiming She Wrote The Matrix, Terminator

Posted by Juan

After 6 years New York Native finally wins redemption for manuscript she submitted to Wachowski Bros. which would become the Matrix

sophia Stewart

A couple of years ago I read online somewhere a brief blurb about an African American woman named, Sophia Stewart, who claimed the Wachowski Brothers, Joel Silver and Warner Brother, aka the parties responsible for one of the most successful movie franchises this side of Star Wars, The Matrix trilogy.  With so many such lawsuits being reported and quickly dismissed, I assumed this too was just another attempt by perhaps a struggling film producer looking to get rich off a claim that some dusty manuscript from the 80′s bared trace similarities to the movies.  Apparently I couldn’t have been further from the truth.

Thanks to Highbrid Nation tipster and one of my Twitter followers ThickRidah, I have learned that Central District of California has awarded Stewart damages not only for the Matrix films but from the films, The Terminator and its sequels as well.  In the end this persistent film maker will soon receive one of the biggest copyright infringement payouts in the history of Hollywood. To put this all in perspective, The films collectively grossed 2.5 billion dollars, Stewart should be searching for a real estate agent.

So how did Stewart’s ideas magically make it to the big screen without her?  In she published and copyrighted a manuscript, ‘The Third Eye,’ and would later submit it to an ad placed by the Wachowski Brothers who were looking for a sci-fi project to produce.  While this kind of “theft” happens all the time, during an FBI investigation an informant working with the studio came forward with damning evidence that would eventually help Stewart win her case.

That’s some good ish right there.  A real feel good story where the little guy or gal in this case gets to put its foot up the ass of the powers that be.  Salute to Sophia Stewart for her hard work and determination.  Not only did she win personally but she won for all the aspiring industry heads that been victimized in just this same fashion.   Hollywood will have to think twice next time they try to Deebo the next one.

This is NOT a rumor or false. She won the case because she proved without doubt, in court that the matrix and the terminator are her work. Some people don’t want to believe it to be true because she is black. However her copyrights go back to the 1980s. You can also check public court records to see what happened in this case and see that she WON.
