SOUND OFF: Should Lil Wayne Sue Amazon For “Mishap” That Leaked Album Six Weeks Early?
Weezie’s new album “Rebirth” hits the internet in force after Amazon.com accidently ships copies to customers early
Tracks from Lil Wayne’s new album “Rebirth” are spilled all over the Internet now thanks to Amazon.com calling the actions that caused widespread internet leakage of Lil Wayne’s new album “Rebirth” a “shipping mishap.”
An estimated 500 customers who pre-ordered the album began receiving their copy on Monday, Dec. 14 nearly six weeks before its official release date despite a recent release date change from Dec. 21 to February 1. Billboard.com is reporting that all 14 tracks have been popping up on rap and file sharing web sites, Twitter, YouTube. By Tuesday fans began posting photos of the disc and even broadcast low-fi impromptu listening sessions of the album on Ustream.tv.Clearly this has taken all the wind out of the sails of any marketing or promotion that Universal Motown/ Cash Money might have planned to promote the project. The damage to record sales must be serious considering Weezie is one of the last hip hop acts that is still has platinum potential. Given the economic losses which I’m someone is attempting to calculate SOUND OFF: Should Weezie be able to SUE Amazon.com for the mishap? If so what kind of damages should they be required to repay?
FILED IN Need to Know

Yeah I think he should sue. I don’t know how much he should sue for because no one will ever know the actual amount of money he lost but they should pay for something. 500 copies may not sound like anything but think about it, 500 copies could turn to thousands of bootleg copies in matter of days. SMH
Hell yeah he should sue. There was a loss of income/ revenue due to the ablum being leaked. He should at least sue for how much he would have made in album sales in the time between the leakage occured and the actual date the album was suposed to be released. That could add up to millions for someone like Lil Wayne.Last ablum did go platinum in a week.
I think as compensation Amazon should sell his album on their site at no cost to the label.
i wont dwnload it. buy it.
Don’t Buy It And Don’t Get A Bootleg Copy Because It’s The Weakest CD I’VE EVER HEARD!! I’m DROP DEAD SERIOUS. I Thru It Out Da Window On Da Highway So A 18 Wheeler Could Run It Over!!!!!!!!!
