Posted by Juan

Will Santa’s satin sack be a little lighter this year?

Christmas

A recent Gallup poll measured American’s 2009 Christmas spending and found on average most folks planned to spend $740 on gifts this year. Believe it or not that’s actually up from the $639 prediction Americans gave during the economically troubled 2008 holiday season however still down from the over $800 predictions for the previous 7 years of robust economic growth.

Do you feel the economic climate has soured the holiday shopping season for you this year?  Are you spending more or less than you did a year ago?  SOUND OFF!

  1. I spent $0 last year and I will spend $0 this year. Chalk that up to one of the many benefits of not celebrating any holiday.

BTW… I was around midtown this weekend, it doesn’t appear that anyone in NYC is spending less. These stores are always packed and everyone appears to have a sale or a coupon available to make things appear cheaper.

  2. Mr Bad Guy says:

I spending money like I always have. Baby and the kids ain’t trying to hear anything else!!! But I’m using debit and cash more than credit. The credit card companies and the whole damn credit system is the got damn devil!!!!! And the sad thing is you cant disassociate yourself from them because they are associated with everything considered propserous i.e. cars, homes, jobs. But I digress…..
