SOUND OFF: So What To Make Of Tiger? Will He Be Tamed By ‘Transgressions?’
Aside from public embarrasment, will his Golf game or endorsements suffer?
If we’ve learned anything in this age of technology, endless scrutiny and TMZ, its that the truth will ALWAYS be known and sooner more often rather than later. Dirt no longer gets swept under the rug without it seeping out the other side. It seemed after Tiger Woods was issued a $164 citation for careless driving following the accident in which he ran over a fire hydrant and busted up a neighbors tree. However in this newly very transparent world it was not less than 24 hours before the truth trickled out of Tiger and his extracurricular affairs when this voicemail from an mistress, Jamie Grubbs was secured by US Weekly and published on the internet. Grubbs (pictured) was featured on a recent season of VH1′s tool academy. You can’t make this up.
Man to Man if you were to ask Tiger now he probably would admit that he was very careless and broke the Man Law code of cheating. Thou shall not leave thy name on mistress voicemail. And then there was the text messages. While most cheaters get caught up in the text sex talk banter one would think that a man of Tiger’s stature could afford to have a separate form of communication just for the side chick. But perhaps Tigers ego got in the way. While it might make him the best on the golf course, it brought him down in his personal.
But you can’t be all mad at Tiger. After all Jaimee knew he was married and what her position was. Maybe should have taken a page from his other two mistresses Rachel Uchitel (L) and Kalika Moquin (R).
So when it was all said and done I guess Tiger felt he couldn’t deny it any longer and issued his apology.
“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart,” Woods said on his Web site. “I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.”
Now lets not get into bashing tiger after all let he who is without sin cast the first stone. So instead lets focus on what’s next? How do you think this will affect his golf game? Some tour golfers have already come out and said they’re fearful this will only make him even more focused and determined to take it out on the field each week.
What about his sponsors? Naturally Tiger isn’t the first athlete to have a mistress. Do you think that his sponsors namely Gillette, Buick and Nike should pull the plug? Does a cheating or a person’s personal behavior have any affect on a particular brand’s bottom line? And even if the company’s do decide to stick by the golfer will they see a backlash from the marketplace?

I think both his game and endorsements are going to suffer. (although I am not a golf expert, so I may be wrong.)
.
Endorsements: I think if it were one woman or one occasion than he could get out of it. But with multiple issues AND documentation, I think some of his sponsors are going to run for cover claiming moral outrage.
.
Game: I think he would have a hard time focusing in front of a crowd of people the first time. Especially when you’re going to have some crazy in the crowd holding up signs (which will probably happen).
.
Of course being from Detroit, I have no sense of shock on this. Remember, we have Kwame Kilpatrick, who blazed a wide-trail for future bad-boys.
I dont think it will efect his game as much as his pockets.
On ESPN this morning Nike, Gatorade and Gillette said this wont affect there businnes realtionship with them and it will be business as usual. There might be a problem picking up new endorsements, but the old ones are sticking by him.
F*ck that, I’ll cast the first stone! Tiger is a Dumb-a$$ muthaf*ka for stepping out on his wife with these low-life ho’s. His wife, who birthed his two kids, is waaaay better looking than them. Let’s keep it real: I don’t know what it’s like to have all that money, adoration, women falling all over me all the time. Who knows if I would cheat on my wife?
This I know: If I do it, whomever I cheat with would be sooo fine, everyone would be like, “damn!, can’t blame you for that, bruh!”
I’m talking about Alicia Keys-type beautiful.
I’m disappointed in his poor taste and that he wasn’t smart enough to play the game right…
True dat. I would be smashin damn near ever Fat Back award winner. lls
