What’s Up With Referee’s High Five of Vince Young Following MNF Victory?

Posted by Juan

NFL issues a statement saying it was just and “awkward moment” Huh?!

Vince Young High Five

If you were watching Monday Night Football this week you might have noticed a very odd moment at the end of the game in which Titans quarterback Vince Young appeared to High Five referee Jerome Boger following their win over the Texans.  It happened just after Vince took the final knee to end the game.  I was about to turn the channel just as cameras caught a glimpse I had to TiVo replay it.  All week, sports talkies have been speculating if this was a harmless moment or part of something more shady?

Yesterday the NFL came out with a statement saying it was the former and part of an official referee signal that Young misinterpreted into an invitation to high five.  In the end the incident was dismissed as an “awkward moment.”

Hmm…what do you think?

Shoot I’d high five Vince YOung too!
Damn near ended his own career cause he was spooked. He gathered his NUTS up off the floor and started playing ball. That’s what Men do!
    Get over it!

I thought it was pure instinct. I mean you just don’t leave a brother hanging. It will be on everyone’s mind now and won’t happen again but that was just a natural reaction. I’ve seen refs get a pat on the butt sometimes from players. There could be a little racial undertone to it because they are both Black and gave each other a high-five but I don’t think anyone feels like there was any favoritism.

  3. Jones says:

I didn’t want to say anything about them both being Black. I think the media in America has an issue with powerful, influentual Blacks hands down. Whether you a Black Quarterback setting the bar for what a true athlete is capable of(Mike Vick), a comedian with enough influence for everyone to question the system (Dave Chappelle). They will strike up any conversation to get folks fired up.And alienate or jail the messenger/influential person. From the Obama Pound to this “issue” here. It’s almost like some p-woods feel they set the standard for whats “right” in America. Get real….This country is a melting pot. Lupe said it best…on the ‘Intruder Alert’ track. “the land of the “free”, where they feed you, treat you like “equals”, AND call you illegal.”
    Just saying though….
