Eminem To Play a Shady Character in New 3D Horror Flick
The emcee will produce and star in the comic book accompanied 3 part horror film
Given Eminem’s recent extended hiatus and visible disinterest in rap its not surprising that we’ve seen the lyricist transition from other ventures like comics and movies. While he was very recently was the subject of a XXL joint venture comic project with
Marvel and The Punisher franchise, we’d have to go back to his very memorable performance as “Rabbit, in 8 Mile for his last gig on the big screen.
In his new role, the multi-platinum emcee will play a far more sinister character, more in line with the persona fans have come to know as Slim Shady through his records. In the film entitled Shady Talez, Em will play multiple roles as well as make his production debut. BBC News describes the horror flick as, “a cross between Creep Show and vintage TV program The Twilight Zone.”
Much in line with the current horror trend, the film which was originally the brainchild of Violator Management’s Chris Lighty and Mona Scott will be released in 3D. Dallas Jackson, writer of the upcoming Last Dragon remake will man the script.
Additionally not to be outdone by his prior comic book effort, Shady Talez is said to be accompanied by a limited run comic book series due out in 2010 under the Marvel Icons imprint.
This is a dicey move for Eminem. Throughout his career including his previous acting gig, he’s known nothing but success but with horror often built so heavily in fantasy, often it comes across as unbelievable and cheesy which could open the rookie producer up to a harsh new reality….failure. However, Eminem has faced odds head on throughout his life and we don’t expect he’ll back down now.
