SOUND OFF: Chris Brown To Give Tour Proceeds To Help Domestic Violence Victims
Has he done enough?
Still reeling from his break up with Rihanna and the fallout from their domestic dispute, Chris Brown has announced that he’s launching a “Fan Appreciation Tour” in which he plans to donate partial proceeds to a domestic violence intervention program.
While he’s been jeered by man, the singer is committed to making amends a says his 19-city tour is designed to “acknowledge and thank his fans for their on-going support,” and now show that’s he’s seen the error of his ways and wants to give back.
Brown has selected to work with the The Jenesse Center, a Los Angeles-based organization founded in 1980 to deal with the effect of domestic violence on American families. Additionally, he will also donate to Best Buddies International which is a non-profit organization that provides friendships, jobs and leadership opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
“While on tour, Chris plans to visit with Best Buddies participants, as well as encourage his fans to consider volunteering their time to work with those in their own communities who have intellectual and developmental disabilities,” a press release stated.
Given the obviously heinous act that Brown committed do you feel he’s doing enough to make good? While I don’t know the true strength of his character, I’ve gotta say he’s certainly not shied away from admitting wrongdoing and being active in speaking out against his own actions. But is it enough? SOUND OFF.
FILED IN Need to Know

I don’t think it means s**t.
.
So he’s going to go on tour, get rich (or richer), and throw alms at a charity in an attempt to buy off his guilt.
.
There are certain undisputed rules to being a man: you look straight ahead when using a public urinal, you don’t make a man look like a fool in front of his children, and you don’t hit women – ever.
.
Even if you’re mad; even if you’re drunk or high, even if she’s just ASKING for it… you just don’t do it, because it is wrong.
.
I’m the first person to admit that I have a seriously flawed character. As such, I am a big believer in redemption; that a person can, in time, learn from their mistakes and repair their lives.
.
But there’s an underlying philosophy behind beating a woman that points to a character flaw so serious that it cancels out any good that a person may do in the other parts of their life.
.
Violence is never a legitimate form of debate. And attacking a woman is the most severe symptom of power-lust. To beat a woman, you have to enjoy having power over the weak, and that’s just too much for civilized society to tolerate.
.
I don’t know this guys background, so I will make my opinion simple: if this is the first time he did it, and he can go for 5 or 10 years without doing it again, then I say live and let live. If he’s done it before, ever, then I say wash your hands of him and spend your money on the next flash-in-the-pan that comes along.
I agree with much of what Malcolm stated. However, I won’t go as far as to say if this is his first time, then this…People, especially those who have money, get away with crimes much worse than what he did. for example, rape, child molestation, murder, drug-dealing, denying legitimate insurance claims, denying health insurance coverage, (and I include the last two because they can often lead to someone’s death or a lifetime of pain). Those people live freely among us. Many of the people who are shouting how terrible a person Chris Brown is benefit from a global economic system that enslaves and kills people around the world and is killing our planet. HYPOCRISY…..He did what he did. He is trying to make ammends (or not…that is his cross to bear). Enough already.
I agree with both Malcolm & Emerson. (LMAO at that “looking straight ahead in the urinal” rule!!! Its true though!) Anyway both of you had great input on this topic. I do feel that Breezy did an unacceptible thing and I think its a good thing that he knows what he did is wrong. BUT I think now he’s just trying too hard. I think its too soon to try and make a comeback. A lot of people still haven’t forgotten so I feel like this may do more harm than actually help him. But at the same time, Emerson is also right. It’s his wrong doing so who are we to judge? He’s trying and thats all that matters right?
There is only one way to “make up” for this and that is to never…..ever, ever, ever, do it again. Everything else is bullsh#t.
Great commentary guys. Malcolm, tell us how you REALLY feel. I agree though, beating women especially as bad as he did implies a certain character flaw. I wouldn’t go as far to say its not rehabilitatable but he does need help. Forget his celebrity for a second because that’s a whole other issue, but we can’t expect a man to beat a women be punished for the crime and feel confident that it won’t happen again. It does require some intervention.
I dont think he should give a fuck about what anybody think outside of her and thier families. I kicked my sister’s man ass for putting his hands on her, so I dont condone what he did. at the same time nobody knows exactly what happen. people pass such harsh judgement because of the female that was involved. then mawfuckas criticize him for his attemps to make up for his mistakes. mawfuckas need to let the young man move on with his life. he aint the first artist to hit a female. Big beat kim but people jump on his dick whenever possible. he did the same shit, why not throw him under the bus? Same thing for Big Pun (r.i.p. to both), nobody cares bout that right?
