Carmelo Anthony Blatently Bites 50 Cent, Launches ‘ThisIsMelo.com,’ Signs Tag Body Spray Deal

Posted by Juan

Hopefully his moves ON THE court will be more original.

Carmelo Anthony

Although Denver Nuggets star, Carmelo Anthony recently launched website, ThisIsMelo.com doesn’t mirror the content of ThisIs50.com I wouldn’t be surprised to see a trademark infringement suit filed shortly.  While various other celebrities have launched similarly branded website following 50′s model including rival The Game, Melo clearly is the most bankrolled.  We’ll see what happens.

Aside from all that, the site is regardless of its domain is said to provide fans with an inside look into his life off the court.  Ummmm just what we’ve been waiting for.  Oh wait don’t we already have that from LaLa and her website and tweets?  After all she follow Melo everywhere so wouldn’t this site prove redundant?

“Everybody knows the competitor and athlete that I am, but as a fan, you want to know what goes on in the day to day,” he said in a video message on the site. “It’s important for me to show what it takes for me to be the player that I am at the end of the day.”

Personally, I’m a huge sports fan but I’m not checking for my favorite athletes off the court or field.  All I care about it wins and losses.  I’m not sure there’s a market for such content perhaps among female followers who don’t really care about his game.  I think athletes have gotten way to caught up in the fact that although fans may pack the arena and wear their jersey’s, its really the name on the FRONT of the jersey that’s most important than one on the back.  Melo could get shipped outta town and fans will still be routing for Denver.

On another front, Melo reportedly has signed a new deal with Proctor & Gamble’s, TAG body spray to endorse an signature line of products.  Curiously dubbed, “Stay Up”, Melo becomes the first athlete signed by the brand which has pursued a more hip hop strategy as TAG recently launched Ludacris’ “Get Yours” signature line.
