MTV’s “Hottest MC” List Is Complete. Do You Agree? [UPDATED]
MTV Explains why Eminem didn’t make the list.
For the last few days MTV has been counting down their list of the Top 10 MCs Who Are Releasing Music On A Regular Basis “Top 10 Hottest MCs in the Game”. Though I’m not a fan of every artist on the list, I can understand the thinking behind adding them to the list though I’m a little baffled as to how Eminem is not on there. Or how Young Jeezy is. What do you guys think. Way off? On point? Angry about the Lil Bow Bow not making the cut? Check the list below.

UPDATE: MTV has been getting some heat on the omission of Eminem. Here’s their explanation…
His hotly anticipated return to hip-hop after a long absence drove first-week sales of over 600,000 — the highest first-week sales of the year so far. But then Em retreated to the lab, where he spent the summer crafting Relapse 2. From June to September, Em all but took himself out of the public eye, while other MCs generated week-to-week heat with mixtapes, guest appearances, performances and Web activity. Eminem is one of the best ever on the mic. His track record is undeniable. The Hottest list deals with right now, though. If the Brain Trust had compiled the Hottest list back in May, there’s no doubt Eminem would have made the Top 10.

And that last “effort” was garbage!!!!!! Em has fallen off. The way he came in was on some shock and awe type stuff. he still tryna do that gimmick and its lost all of its edge. I hate to say it but im not checkin for him no more. he dont do nothing for me anymore. Sure he is a great lyricist. But he isnt what he once was. To me, RR was right after all.

I think the list is absolutely correct. As a fan and an artist. It’s the “Who’s the hottest right now!” list. Em is good, but was absent damn near the whole year. In the end everyone knows he’s goin sell, shit he’s white. And I think ppl feel just cause he’s nice he should automatically be on every list. It’s like Larry Bird, he’s one of the greatest, but he isn’t in the game now. So how can you be on a list for who’s hottest now, if he’s not around now? SmH at all of you.
Jeezy & Wayne need to switch spots, in fact Wayne don’t even need to be in it….said it once and I’ll say it 1000 times HE CAN’T RAP!!!

Where is T.I, Devin the Dude, Scarface…dudes like them don’t drop weak albums but they never on anybodies top 10. T.I might get mentioned, but damn near all the top 10 list I see out there I don’t agree with.

If this list was for a years time, 365 days, I’d have to change that list pronto. It seems like this list is who’s hot ‘for the moment’. rememebr, its all opinionated. its like asking who is the greatest MC of all time. or the greatest rapper. There has to be some kind of criteria or guidelines to judge by. its not like anyone who nominated these for the list is an authority on WHO is hot and who isnt. I think if you gonna judge or have a ‘contest’ let the judges be emcees or rappers period. But, thats just me.

All I have to say is Gucci Man(Top Worst) is on the list…?!? Obviously there not going on just lyrics but lime light shine in the year of 09. Em had an album that was long overdue, some nuts in his face, and beef with Mariah, that’s it. He might have made 10, but that’s it. The Chef Purple Tape 2 is hottest album of yr in my opinion, I havent heard Ghost yet. LUDA hasent done anything but let Gucci & OJ da Juiceman run ATL music in the ground since TI got canned. Basically the list is all WRONG, Jay-Z owned MTV since the BP3 dropped, so they gave him #1, he’s done nothing else this year but try to re-create his Old ass ultimate hustler pitch to society. I’ll say he’s the most successful rapper ever but that’s it. Mos Def or Andre 3K would lyrically MURDER the so-called “BEST EVER” and people still believe that this clown never wrote a bar down, LOL…

I kinda alluded to it in the post but it does indeed seem to be just a list of the people who have been consistantly dropping music lately. To get on the list, just flood the scene with music and appearances.

I don’t agree with the list but it is all about the lime light. I mean seriously, Loso, Gucci, and Rick Ross shouldn’t be on there period. There are a good handful of rappers that should have been on that list but you can’t expect MTV to get it right. MTV rides on anyone’s di*k who is getting even a little dose of shining.

I agree. Em should have been on that list. I know he hasn’t put out that much music other than the Relapse but it doesn’t mean he’s not a hot rapper. He would single handedly kill damn near everyone on that list.
