How Disapointing: Sanaa Lathan Apparently Into Old Married White Guys
SMH!
Lets get one thing straight…Sanaa Lathan is one of the baddest (if not the baddest) WOMAN on this planet. But sometimes its the ones who’ve got it all that will make you scratch your head. Over the last few months, several rumors hit the gossip blogs that Lathan was shacking up with founder and Chairman of Loud Records & SRC Records, Steve Rifkind.
Now according to Bossip there is actually merit to those claims. Their sources are stating that Rifkind has been seperated from his wife for the past 3 years. His divorce was finalized just 2 weeks ago yet the two seem to have been dating for quite some time.
Now its clear that Steve is down with the brown and that’s cool. His ex-wife is a beautiful black woman. I’d expect you to appreciate the intricacies of the sistas when you’ve dedicated your life to erecting the careers the likes of Wu Tang Clan, Akon, David Banner, and Big Pun.
I’m also not surprised that Lathan likes to dabble in the white boys, after all she was very convincing playing “Kenya” opposite Simon Baker in the Jungle Fever-esque film, Something New.
But a woman as gorgeous, distinguished and accomplished as she is shouldn’t have to resort to dating married men. I wouldn’t go as far as to call her a sell out. There are many black women having problems finding a good black man, I just don’t think she’s one of them. There’s plenty of us in the Highbrid Nation that would have been better suitors.
Am I hating? clearly.

You not hating, Juan. Just speaking the truth! I can feel your pain. She is in my top 5, as far as actresses/models go. Even though I’m not on the market, she is one of the select few that I would say, “Can you blame me for cheating”?

I have been watching some older movies lately…….I saw brown sugar and Love and Basket ball the other night……double feature. I am way confused on why her dating white is of relevance. She is beautiful outside, and rumor is inside. Not only does Lee..have an awesome attitude! Props. I have been called a half breed my whole life..I am a white Jew and my dad is a gentile..that side of the family thinks I am beautiful for a half/breed………really…..we all bleed red. I was just trying to see if she was married, because she was with the guy who has like 85 names in another movie. Thought they might be a couple. She is all that, I give her props. Honestly I think its the other way around Cornchips. That’s not the point though. I’m disappointed because she felt the need to pursue a married man although she’s the most beautiful woman on the planet (to me.)

It jus’ doesn’t seem like a woman like her would have a hard time finding a good SINGLE man. She has the looks & the money, then again, that might be the reason why she’s having a hard time. 1cent: Dude is not married. he was legally separated from his wife and divorce migh thave just taken that long due to assest etc. So technically he was a free man.
2cents: ghpi, I agree, most men are threaten by some womens success and independence, so why not rock with the one that appreciates and embraces it.
side note: Sanaa is the baddest chick on the planet,hell I paid $200 a month for a gym membership at Chelsea piers just so i can see her at the gym back in the day.

Wow, It’s amazing that people take this all so personally. It doesn’t matter who she dates, chances are you would never meet her, and if you did who’s to say she would even look your way. No matter how beautiful a Black woman may be, or how successful, brothers say they are feeling us, but end up dogging us out. Look what happened to Halle Berry who tried numerous times to get a good Black man – and she, as well as Sanaa, are light-skinned. Beautiful dark skinned women are being ignored by brothers; and of course they want them young enough to be their daughters! Kelly Rowland is beautiful, too.
Some simplistic arguments here but i share Juan’s viewpoint. I guess the problem with power and money is that they can corrupt absolutely. I would also add the issues of race and identity are yet to be honestly and openly addressed by “us”. I hope articles like this keep appearing.
