Kimbo Slice Off The Canvas: Gets MMA Top Billing, New Nortons Security Ad
Following Embarrassing Defeat Kimbo Slice Has Reinvented Himself, His Brand
While Kimbo Slice no longer is the undefeatable internet fighting celebrity he once was he’s still a hot commodity that fans must tune in to see. Following his shocking loss last year to Seth Petruzelli in just 14 seconds many believed his 15 minutes of fame and MMA career had all but ended. But Kimbo’s back and more dedicated to the craft.
According to the LATimes.com, his presence in the new season of SpikeTV’s “The Ultimate Fighter: The Heavyweights,” drew in 4.1 million viewers, more than ever before which is double what the series did in any of its past season. Kimbo is still relevant.
Next Wednesday Kimbo puts his re-established identity to the test as he squares off against Roy Nelson in his first match of the new “Ultimate Fighter” season. And while the match is sure to be Kimbo’s biggest to date, he has rolled his once viral buzz-worthy celebrity into a viable and marketable brand.
Check out his new ad for the very credible Norton Internet Security 2010. The clever spot equates a caterpillar to consumer identity and Kimbo Slice to a cyber criminal looking to “unleashed a world of hurt” upon your caterpillar.
Imagine that this caterpillar is your identity and MMA fighter, Kimbo Slice, is a cyber criminal who just “unleashed a world of hurt” upon your caterpillar. You need virus removal software. Norton Internet Security 2010.

I’m one of those new watchers of Ultimate FIghter. I’ve seen the show in the past from time to time when I couldnt find anything else to watch but when I heard Kimbo Slice was going to be on this season I made sure I tuned in and next week I look forward to seeing his first UFC sactioned fight. Its hard not to cheer for the guy. He;s a monster with the hits but is super down to earth when you hear him speak. I’m glad to see the guy making the most of his “gift”. Only problem about being a star in the world of MMA, or boxing for that matter, is that it only takes one bad loss for your career to basically over. Kimbo lucky to have a second chance at this.
I think Kimbo is building a brand and that’s the difference. Very few fighters have been able to distinguish themselves out of the “octagon.” I think given his uniqueness he could have a window of marketability regardless of his success.
fa sho. I think he goes undefeated bc Dana white KNOWS he is a MAJOR $$$$$ draw. I also believe the show is fixed to a degree. Either way, I hope he succeeds at whatever he does.
I hope the man do good. Very few MMA guys are undefeated. It take courage just to go on the show.
