Following her PMS-like tirade, Serena Inks Tampax Endorsement
Serena and her bad attitude are perfect for Tampax. At very least women “under the influence” can relate
Despite her recent outburst at the U.S. Open that might have otherwise cost an athlete endorsements, Serena Williams has actually added one. She’s inked a new deal with Procter & Gamble’s to become their Tampax brand’s new pitchwoman.
The tennis star will be featured in a new print and online campaign that will depict her beating Mother Nature in a game of tennis. The ads which are geared towards teens hit newsstands last week.
Serena is “unstoppable and prepared, like our Tampax girl,” said Courtney Schuster, associate brand manager for Tampax. “[Williams] doesn’t let Mother Nature get the best of her.”
It seems ironic given the nature of the product that the ads would launch the same week as her very public tirade at the US Open. At the risk of sounding sexist, her verbal spasm was sterotypical of a woman under suffering from a severe case of PMS. I’m saying…threatening to force a tennis ball down a poor woman’s throat? There’s an outside force at work here.
