I saw this and found it interesting.  This Saturday Undefeated former Middleweight boxing Beast and one of the pound-for-pound best fighters ever, Floyd “Money” Mayweather will come out retirement to fight Juan Manuel Marquez.

Mayweather, one of the boxers most tied to the hip hop culture has prided himself on his showmanship and creating a spectacle for the fans without undermining his undeniable talent.  In the past he’s brought the likes of 50 Cent and his former ABC Dancing With the Stars season mates Indy car driver Helio Castroneves, singer, Wayne Newton and Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban. Then there was the time he was carried to the ring while standing aloft a Roman Emperor’s throne by a six-man drawn chariot.

Well this Saturday Floyd does it again when he’ll be joined by WWE’s the six-time world champion, Triple H to the ring for his fight against the five-time world champion Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

“Triple H is one of the greatest guys in the world and represents a whole universe of WWE fans that appreciate what he does,” said Mayweather. “He and his stature are huge and I can’t think of a better person to escort me to the ring for my return to boxing.”

“It is an honor to walk the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world back into the ring,” said WWE Superstar Triple H. “Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has shown WWE tremendous support and it is my pleasure to return the favor this Saturday by standing at his side as he defeats Marquez in what I am sure will be boxing’s fight of the year.”

I’m a big boxing fan like my fellow Highbrid Nation cohort Lexicon167 and I’ve been eagerly anticipating this fight for a while.  During Floyd’s hiatus, he made a special guest appearance at WWE’s “No Way Out” last year in which he squared off against seven-footer The Big Show…..comedy.  I guess the WWE and Vince McMahon are returning the favor.   It should be entertaining and a great fight on top of it.  This is the kind of creative stuff that’s missing from Hip Hop.  Guys like Floyd should be pushed to forefront as the poster boys of the culture beyond the music.  I’m tired of seeing Jigga.
