Columbia Pictures Says ‘Bad Boys 3′ On the Horizon
With 2 succesful movies under their belt is it worth the risk for Jerry Bruckheimer, Micheal Bay, Will and Martin?
It looks like the “Bad Boys” franchise is poised for yet another installment. Word on the blogs is that Columbia Pictures is pretty hyped about a new film and hopes to get director Michael Bay, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence back together again for one final flick.
New to the team however is Columbia’s new writter Peter Craig, who co-wrote upcoming the Ben Affleck directed “The Town.” He doesn’t have a ton of Hollywood experience and certainly has yet to work on a project the blockbuster caliber of the “Bad Boys” franchise so all parties though optimistic are awaiting a preliminary storyline before committing.
I for one have been a big fan of “Bad Boys.” I think its success was due in large part to the extended hiatus between films. After Will and Martin lit up the screen in 1995 catapulting Michael Bay’s career as a director the team waited a full eight years before they released the sequel in 2003. Fans responded as the movie grossed $138 million domestically and $273 million roughly double what they had done during the previous installment. This time however it will be a bigger challenge. With the economy struggling and American’s consuming more media from home, repeating that feat could be a tall task. With a new writer and already two great movies under their belt, it could be a tall task to hope lightning will strike three times.
FILED IN Movies

Aww man this would be great! I love both movies and I would absolutely go see another. As long as Martin & Will are going to be in it and the story line is good then I’m all for it. Hopefully it won’t be as lackluster as Rush Hour 3. It had some funny moments but I think it could have been better. Bad Boys 3 should generate millions as long as the script is on point. But like you said, the economy may voice its opinion…..
Just hope they don’t have Martin all senitive this time. Woosahing the whole damn movie.
