‘Soul Train’ Coming To The Big Screen
Next stop…Hollywood
When Soul Train creator, Don Cornelius announced the last stop on the franchise’s line last year it marked an end of an era. After 37 years he sold the wildly familiar brand and all it rights to a MadVision Entertainment, a multimedia company.
At that time many had speculated as to how direction the new company would take Soul Train but very little has developed until now. Variety is reporting that Warner Bros. is planning to turn the classic weekly dance program into a feature film.
The film’s producers, Porter/Geller Productions have been working closely with Cornelius on the film which will reportedly be set in the 1980s.
“All of the hip-hop street dances you see today were born during that time period and were first seen on that show, and I remember doing all of them when I was a kid,” said the film’s writer Malcolm Spellman. (Dead Presidents)
According to Spellman the film will revolve around an young Los Angeles dancer who hopes to use his gifts to raise up out of the hood. The film will also feature a fictional tour of bands and dancers which has always been a dream of Cornelius which Spellman intends to make come true ont he big screen.
“This guy is a serious popper, with street edge, and he wants to get on that tour, with the hottest of the hot,” Spellman said. “Writing with Don involved is quite an experience. He’s still the godfather of cool.”

Since I remember Soul Train as a child, I’ll be glad to see this movie. PEACE!!!
I think I’ll just stay at home and keep my fund memories of the real soul train. If anyone can mess up the truth it would be follywood..
