NYC Mayor Bloomberg To Spike Lee: Get a Bigger Venue For Michael Jackson B-Day Bash
With expected crowds growing exponentially, Fort Green Park no longer thought feasible to hold bashment
The buzz around Brooklyn this weekend was all about Spike Lee‘s upcoming celebration in honor of Michael Jackson. Brooklyn’s own legendary filmmaker announced his plans last week to commemorate what would have been Jackson’s 51st birthday this Saturday, August 29th with a huge Brooklyn style block party birthday bashment at Fort Greene park.
However, word has spread so fast that the initial 2,000 estimated attendees has swelled to to over 10,000 sparking city officials to moving the event to a bigger venue to accommodate the crowds.
A spokesperson from Mayor Michael Bloomberg‘s office said Friday that the city is working with Lee to find a more suitable venue with Brooklyn’s Prospect Park, being under obvious consideration.
Now this is interesting. Spike Lee plans an event for the King of Pop in Brooklyn and a spokesperson is sent to address the issue, whereas 50 Cent says he’s going have a party in Queens a Bloomberg himself feels the need to address the crowd control. I’m not drawing any conclusions…just interesting.
