With New Reality Series, A&E To Give Jackson’s The Spotlight That Killed Mike

Posted by Juan

Remaining Jackson Brothers seek the same “drug” which drove Michael’s downward spiral

Jackson 5

While no one will argue the genuine sadness the Jackson’s have felt following the death of Michael, one can’t help but notice how his passing has thrust them back in the limelight, particularly Tito.  While I’m sure some of it is an attempt by the media to capitalize on the buzz, I can’t say that I’ve seen an intense campaign on the part of the family to demand additional privacy while they greive.  But isn’t that so appropriate?  I mean that is the way that Mike lived his life; claiming to be a reclusive shy cat displaying often bizarre behavior to sheild himself from the spotlight constantly feeding off the attention that it brought.

Though there has always been much mystery surrounding the family, the remaining members of the Jackson 5 have recently made an attempt to bring the fans into their lives.  They’ve been traveling the Hollywood circuit recently an idea for a reality show which would give viewers a first hand look at the family as they grieve and go about their everyday lives.

Yesterday, [one of my favorite networks] A&E reportedly picked up the series.  The show’s pilot was actually produced prior to the King of Pop’s death and focused on the brothers’ attempt to mount a reunion tour. Michael never agreed to the project and unfortunately died before the brothers could try to get him to reconsider.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, A&E will film future episodes chronicling the Jackson brothers dealing with Michael’s death.

It seems like it might be interesting, I jus’ wish the Michael was alive to be a part of it. I saw the Jacksons Victory Tour concert in ATL in ’84…great show. PEACE!!!

You have to understand the spotlight,Hollyweird Life is all they know. They dont knowhow to do anything else so while it might seem weird to us its normal for them!

You’re right, of course, about the nearly psychophrenic nature of fame.
    .
The celebrity shows up where the cameras are (or phone in anonymous tips on themselves to get the cameras there) and then scream “oh why can’t you leave me in peace”, all while making sure that they give a decent pose to each of the cameramen who show up.
    .
The only thing worse than having to live a life like this is being famous for a while, and then losing the fame… which explains the Jackson family.
    .
At their best they filled stadiums and were the dream of all of the little girls who read Tiger Beat; and then poof… all gone.
    .
If they try to find work in the real world, they wind up on one of those “what ever happened to…” shows; where the world would see them trying to sell cars, build houses, or clean tables.
    .
If they do nothing, they starve (because most faded celebs don’t have any of their money left).
    .
    So, a reality show.
    .
It could be worse, of course. You could have them anoint themselves bishops of a newly formed “Church of Michael”, walking around in white robes selling photos and audit sessions.
    .
The only redeeming part of this story is that they started filming BEFORE Michael died. This means that at worse, they are has-beens trying to capitalize off of their brothers fame; other than being has-bins riding their dead brothers corpse into a fat check
