Beef Over First Edit Causes ‘Marley’ Biopic Director To Bounce Off Set
Director, Jonathan Demme who took over for Scorsese now gone following alleged disagreement with producer
The drama concerning the pending bioflick on the life and times of Bob Marley has been well documented. It appears we can add yet another chapter to that saga as director, Jonathan Demme allegedly has parted ways with the project after editing conflicts with the producer.
According to the New York Post’s Page Six “Marley” producer Steve Bing beefed about Demme’s first cut of the film, which angered the director enough to walk away. Demme took over the project after we reported that the original director, Martin Scorsese also curiously left due to “scheduling conflicts.”
Demme who directed “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Rachel’s Getting Married,” took on the project with the hopes of a February 6, 2010 release date (Marley’s 65th birthday) but that could now be in jeapordy with this setback.

Hum.. this is a lil’ publicity stunt to generate a bit of web press . In this business there is no way you would slam a door like this if your name isn’t Spielberg. The network is big but the ties are small. Your behind will be downgraded slowly or simply blacklisted.
BTW!! where are the Jamaican editors/cutters ? directors ? are they just good enough for the soundtrack ? or they have been told just because you are Jamaican ….
Name one! I don’t know of any so. I think also Hollywood studios won’t pick up movies without reputable names attached to the project. So even with a good Jamaican editor or director the film won’t see the light of day.
