Not more than a few months ago, entertainer Bow Wow announced that he was retiring from the rap game to focus more on acting under his government name Shad Moss.  His retirement at the time seemed in direct response to his very disappointing first week album sales of the highly publicized New Jack City II in which he barely cracked 18,000 records in his first week.  With a new regular spot on the HBO hit series Entourage and other promising acting roles, the frustrated entertainer seemed at the time to have turned his back on the music industry and his fans.

So it would seem rather odd that today he would be all excited and initially secretive about inking a new deal with Cash Money. Perhaps it was his less than Pacino-esque acting performances on Entourage, perhaps it was the flack he received for exposing his scrotum on his big screen sex scene debut or perhaps he just noticed that retiring/un-retiring is all the rage.  Whatever it was, for all five of you who have been waiting…Bow Wow is back.  All day he was very active on Twitter teasing loyal fans about a pending announcement.

Bowwow614: Rt this!!! All media outlets and bow wow fans we are exactly 24hrs away from the biggest announcement of my career!

And while it would appear that with his withering music fan base, he was likely the most excited individual about the announcement.  But just over an hour ago, the artist formerly known as Little Bow Wow anti-climatically proclaimed:

Womp Womp.  Unfortunately Bow Wow isn’t the teen idol God he used to be and being reduced to Twitter/ You Tube press releases is a far cry from his hottest ticket in town 106 & Park appearances of his youth.   The terms of the deal were not disclosed but I wouldn’t be surprised given his recent album flop if the artist had to take what he could get.
