MARKETING MATTERS: Tide ‘Cold Water’ Borrows Digable Planets Soundbed

“Cool Like That”

Here’s the new ad from Tide “Cold Water” featuring Digable Planets’ “Rebirth Of Slick.”  Though the group is long gone, they never got their props for really being the innovators of the marriage between Jazz, Hip Hop and Soul into the genre we know now as Neo-Soul.  Yeah Guru beta tested it with his “Jazzmatazz” series but they lived it.

I just hope they’re seeing a percentage. Back then getting royalties were a hard thing to come by in a contract.
