Doo Doo Fashion? Obama Draws Critisim Over “Dad” Jeans
Press goes Ape Sh*t over his choice of pants worn to throw out the first pitch at last weeks MLB All-Star Game
Since his early days on the campaign trail, President Obama has been busy fielding questions about topics that really have nothing to do with the critical job he has of running this embattled country. From his relationship with his former Pastor, Reverend Wright to being asked to denounce the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan, the President has had to jump through hoops to placate the media. Personally I think all the extra scrutiny is the press being mildly racist and a little frustrated that his skeletons are either few and far between or buried deep in the closet.
However with an ever-sinking economy and health care reform currently the hot topic it seems that now the media has chosen to make an issue of the “appropriateness” of his attire during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game last Tuesday. Meredith Viera of the “Today” recently asked President Obama about the now infamous “dad” jeans he wore while throwing out the first pitch at the game.
“You are married to one of the most fashionable women in the world,” She said. “Do you want to defend the pants?”
Defend his pants? Ok lets take a step back. I’ll admit, I did strike me while watching that the President was wearing jeans…and not just any jeans but LIGHT washed jeans. I don’t know much about fashion but from the women I know who do, light jeans are more casual than a darker indigo denim and have a tendency to look more dressed down. But then again…isn’t that appropriate for the setting? Its a baseball game. If he decided to run out there in some cargo shorts, chancletas and black tube sock let the man live. He’s the first president in a while that isn’t always “Manchurian” in the way he goes about things. He’s a real dude and real dudes wear jeans. As he does so well however, Obama swiftly absorbed the question and cleverly responded.
“No. Here’s my attitude. Michelle, she looks fabulous. I am a little frumpy. I hate to shop. Those jeans are comfortable, and for those of you who want your president to look great in his tight jeans, I’m sorry, I’m not that guy.”
Like I said real dude. No $400 designer jeans for Obama and you gotta respect the fact he’s not rocking them tight. Hopefully Hip Hop was listening. Peep the video after the jump.

Props to the prez for being his own man and not giving a damn what everyone else thinks. Whether we admit it or not, most of us probably have something in our closets that would draw (at least) some amused looks (probably some WTF was he thinking?!)… Personally, I can’t stand people who are slaves to fashion. These are people who have to have everything that is in fashion at the moment, regardless of whether it looks right on them. Glad the Prez is not one of them.
This type of crap makes me really angry. He’s at a fu**in baseball game. Remember people he’s the most powerful man in the free world, not Kanye. How messed up is our society when the kind of jeans the president was wearing becomes newsworthy. The “White” press is in dire need of some dirt on the President….the press can juggle deez NutZ!!!!
I love it. He even had biscuits on his feet like what.
The president should have said “These aint Diesel nigga these is Evisu” LOL!
Seriously, thank god it’s not the 1990′s. Times are too tough to make Barack Obama a celebrity “joke” president. You can’t stop it from happening completely but the celebrity, “hip”, first Black President thing in the media is starting to wear thin. All that Kennedy culture bullsh#t that they are trying to put on him is just that…bullsh#t. He continues to be himself and not become “hollywood” so I have to give him all the props in the world.
Well stated. My sentiments exactly.
So what, every time they pick on Obama it is racist? Are we allowed to say the same thing about media bash on Bush?
No. Bush was a front man, a clown, inadequate and unqualified. Not in the same category as Mr. Obama, at all.
