Jermaine Durpi Defends His Role In Pacman ‘Make it Rain’ Club Night

Posted by Juan

Many believe it was his comments that ultimately instigated the eventual shooting

Earlier this week we gave you your first look at the infamous video of then NFL defenseman Adam “Pacman” Jones showering Las Vegas strippers with money, moments before an ensuing mele and shooting which left one of the club bouncer’s paralyzed.  The video is said to be key evidence in the attempted murder trial of Arvin Edwards, the alleged shoooter.

Until the video was made public, Pacman’s name was the only one publicly discussed as having been involved at the club that night.  However the video paints a very different picture.  Superproducer, Jermaine Dupri is seen ecouraging Jones to “make it rain” at the club just moments before the shooting took place.

“I’m from a city where in Atlanta, we do this every day,” Dupri told Allhiphop.com about the make it rain practice which inspired a Fat Joe song.

“You’ll hear this in Jeezy records. When Jeezy say he spends $10,000 on one song? That s**t is for real man. It ain’t no play…A lot of yall comment on how stupid it is. It might be stupid to you, but this is what we do,” Dupri continued. “We eat, we kick it, we throw money. Don’t make this one situation blow the whole thing out.”

Many bloggers and critics have identified Dupri as having initially insighting the riot by scolding the strippers for picking up their money while they were still performing.

“You’re not supposed to get your money until the dance is finished,” he said. “These girls was picking the money up [as] soon as the money was flying, like someone was going to steal it. That kind of gave me an idea of the place that we were in. I was like ‘oh these girls are going to start fighting or something because they don’t know understand what the f**k is going on in here.’”

Despite JD’s tonguelashing, the strippers ignored his orders and Jones got into an altercation with two strippers during which time over $40,000 of his money reportedly went missing.  The shooting is believed to be retalition for the theft.

When first questioned by police, Jones denied any involvement or knowledge of the shooting, but seven months later, Jones told police Edwards said he would retrieve the missing money for him.  Moments later it is believed Edwards fired into the crowd striking three people, including the strip club’s shift manager who remains paralyzed from the waist down.

Do you believe Jermaine Dupri has any culpability in the situation? Do you think his comments made him any less responsible for the shooting than Pacman?  Here’s the video again if you missed it.

I saw the video and my opinion is as follows. People see a strip club, money, girls, celebrities, security or lack of it, guns…whatever. All I see is a misunderstanding that went wrong because people can’t get past the environment that it took place in. I hold no one responsible except for the guy that actually shot the gun (Edwards). That kind of club activity happens all the time, I’ve been in “wild” environments before and people don’t get shot, also notice how the girls and everyone else was controled with all that money flying around. The girls were just bending over and picking the money up…that’s all, the money itself flying around didn’t start a riot. Dupri, Nelly, and Pacman were just having fun.

I don’t understand the fascination (or addiction) with strip clubs! Basically, if you’ve seen a few decent-looking women undress before, what is the big deal???

These guys with all this money live in a totally different reality from the rest of us. To feel important/unique (whatever) they have to do things that the average guy can’t do…and then brag about it…this is part of of the reason why they are a target. Haters try to get at them for flaunting their fame/money. “Celebrities” like to complain about their lack of privacy, and how everyone is out for their money, but they bring that upon themsevelves.

I went to a beachelor party this past weekend and there’s a HUGE difference between a woman undressing and a stripper. lol, but I feel you on the different reality tip
