Ne-Yo’s Compound Ent. Spreads Its Wings With New UK Arm
seeking out “U.K. talent in all its forms – artists, songwriters, whatever’s out there.”
Say what you want to about Ne-Yo, you can’t deny his unmistakable talent. From the looks of it he’s pretty serious about his business affairs as well. Earlier this week, Ne-Yo announced that he was expanding his Compound Entertainment management/artist development/production company international and launching operations in the U.K.
The venture will seek out “U.K. talent in all its forms – artists, songwriters, whatever’s out there” accoding to Ne-Yo. A publishing arm will also be furnished in the U.K. operation which has hit the ground running with its first act London-based, Geffen-signed R&B boy band FDM. Compound is co-managing the group and co-executive producing its forthcoming album.
However Ne-Yo wanted to be clear that he’s looking for talent across all genres and plans to be as “hands-on” as possible. “I want to spend as much time here as possible,” he said. “I want to listen to everything and say ‘yay’ or ‘nay.’”
Compound Entertainment was founded by Ne-Yo and his manager/business partner Reynell “Tango” Hay, who run the company as joint-CEOs. Ne-Yo said the U.K. arm was likely to be its only international office for the foreseeable future.
