Ghostface Killa Authors A New Comic Book Dropping This Month
Cell Block Z tells the story of a boxer arrested for a crime he didn’t commit. Sounds like Rubin “Hurricane” Carter no?
Any good rapper (or successful one at least) must portray a character, a persona. Some project weave a story of a gangster past, surviving several close rang shootings. Others paint an image of an retired drug mogul. For Wu Tang’s Ghostface Killah, unlike most others he’s a mystical hood comic book character. And now he’ll have the chance to further cement his character as he’s set to become immortalized in a comic book of his own.
The new comic entitled, Cell Block Z is slated to drop in bookstores July 29 from Hachette Book Group. Authored by the Ghostface, the comic follows a boxer named Cole Dennis who apparently is framed for a crime he didn’t commit. The book is illustrated by Marvel Comic’s Chris Walker. He has also worked on other special projects for Bad Boy Entertainment, VH-1, and Adidas. Ghost is assisted by experienced screenwriters Marlon Chapman and Shauna Garr.
Here’s the description from Hachette’s website:
To his fans, Cole Dennis is a heavyweight contender with a devastating right hook. To a city being held hostage to chaos and terror, Dennis has a grit and charisma that make him the shining hope for justice–until he is arrested for a brutal murder. Framed for a crime he did not commit, he finds himself captive in a foreboding high-tech superprison whose masters secretly conspire to turn inmates into tomorrow’s most terrifying bioweapons–with Cole Dennis as the intended prize specimen. But Dennis is nobody’s lab rat. Reborn as a towering engine of destruction, Dennis will prepare for the fight of his life. He will rename himself Ghostface Killah. And his cry of righteous rage will echo beyond the cold steel walls of Cell Block Z.
Sounds like someone’s actually reinventing himself. Peep the link on the sidebar to order your copy from Amazon.com for $13.99.
