Game Maker Capcom Getting Into The Mixtape Game?

Posted by Mike "Evorgleb" Belgrove

This is pretty weird and pretty damn interesting.

If you don’t know Capcom, I’m sure you know some of the games they make. Mega Man, Street Fighter and Resident Evil are all well known Capcom franchises. The company is famous known for making some of the best video games in the world. Did you know they put out mixtapes too?

In promotion of their new downloadable game Marvel vs. Capcom 2, Capcom is releasing a mixtape to go along with the game. And this isn’t a bunch of no name rappers, these are some mixtape heavyweights. Check out some of the line up…

- Raekwon
- Talib Kweli
- E40
- DJ Qbert
- Hieroglyphics
- The Grouch and Eligh of Living Legends
- Planet Asia
- MC Supernatural
- Havoc of Mobb Deep
- DJ Toure

Of course one’s next thought would be “oh they are just giving songs that are on other mixtapes already”. Yet, I’m hearing that it will all be new and original cuts made especially for this mixtape. All songs having a Marvel comics, Capcom or fighting game theme.

This isn’t the first time Capcom has done this. They also released a free mixtape along with another downloadable game, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

I personally love the idea and hope they keep doing it.

The mixtape will be available on Capcom Unity, Marvel.com, tu4ar.com/ and here on Highbrid Nation (the minute we get our hands on it)
