Iconix To Promote Jay-Z Rocawear to China’s 1,330,044,544 People

Talk about murdering the game. Not bad for a guy from Marcy Projects huh?

With the U.S. consumer market being worst than its been since the great depression, many retailers have been looking to the global market to respin positive profits. Recently Diddy’s Sean John label launched in Spain and today Jay-Z founded Rocawear has announced they’re introducing the brand in China.

Iconix the company that purchased the label from Jay-Z two years ago has announced they they have partnered with Bosideng International Holdings who will manufacture and distribute Rocawear in China. As part of the launch the company will open over 300 Rocawear free-standing stores and shop-in-shop concepts within three years, starting Spring 2010.

“When Iconix purchased the Rocawear trademark two years ago, Neil Cole and I made a commitment to building Rocawear into a global lifestyle brand. Our expansion to China is a validation of our joint efforts to bring an authentic interpretation of American fashion to young people around the world.”

In just 10 short years of existence, Rocawear has built its brand to annual retail sales exceeding $700 million. With China now the most highly populated country be a landslide this could prove to make Rocawear the highest grossing urban clothing label in the world. Not bad for a guy from Marcy projects huh?
