Oprah Drops to #2, Obama First President on Forbes Celebrity 100 List
Though Oprah still stacks more bread, ultimately her support of the president might have cost her the top spot
Yesterday we delved into the new Forbes Magazine, Celebrity 100 issue featuring the lovely Beyonce on the cover. And while there were certainly some interesting surprises like Beyonce’s ascending to the #4 spot on the list perhaps the biggest story was that Oprah Winfrey was supplanted from her No. 1 spot in favor of the new crown holder, Ms. Angelina Jolie ($27 million) whose up 2 spots from last year. Winfrey is still the list’s richest celeb, with $275 million earned last year but perhaps has lost popularity with some of her more conservative following after backing now President Obama’s campaign.
Speaking of the the Commander-In-Chief, for the first time in Forbes’ history a sitting President has made the list with President Barack Obama landing in at No. 49 ($2.5 million) . His was worldwide fame, influence and historic election were all reasons for the magazine to recognize his celebrity gangster.
