Jay-Z Tops The [NEW] Source Magazine’s Power 30 List
The usual suspects and Obama make the cut as well.
I guess its the time of year that magazine rank their power listings. Yesterday the newly revamped Source Magazine released its new Power 30 list, recognizing the top 30 power players in hip hop culture, business, politics, entertainment and lifestyle. Not surprisingly Jay-Z topped the list.
Though he’s had somewhat of a down year by Jigga standards and didn’t release an album, his relationship with Live Nation, the success of his clothing brand Rocawear, endorsements and ownership interests in the NJ Nets make him the no-brainer selection. Much like Forbes and their Celebrity 100, the Source also chose to recognize President Obama on their list. The magazine cited his global influence and support from the hip-hop generation which proved influential (that’s debatable) in his election to office.
Other Power 30 listers include Diddy, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, T-Pain and Kimora Lee Simmons.
Here’s a preview of the issue. Check out will.i.am talk about being included on the list after the jump.

I have been following The Source these past few months and I see the change. . . lets see where it goes. . . I’m not mad.
Its The Source though…not Forbes or Fortune. I’m not sure this is even relevant. I guess I’m biased because I remember The Source when it was Hip Hop “bible” and this is a far cry no matter WHAT they do with it.
