Taraji P. Henson Cast in Will Smith’s ‘Karate Kid’ Remake
Academy Award nominee will play the mother of Jaden Smith’s character
Its seems every day more details surface about Will Smith‘s and his Overbrook Entertainment‘s curious remake of “The Karate Kid.” The latest is Taraji P. Henson has signed on to join the cast. Jackie Chan was previously announced to play the Mr. Miagi role in the film.
Henson will play the main charcter’s Dre’s mother. She is of course riding the high after she received an Academy Award nomination for her role in “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.”
Much like the original the story line follows a young kid who’s not quite accepted by others and finds his way through martial arts. However the remake is set in China where “Dre” (played by Will Smith’s son Jaden) has relocated with his mom. The film has obviously yet started production so there are a lot of wholes to fill in but Karate Kid purist are certainly skeptical.

ooh my babymama.
Yeah she’s the Hollywood (black) flavor of the week.
sexy, black karate huh
