Diddy Tops 1 Million Twitter Follower Milestone. What Does that Mean?

Posted by Juan

A cause for a celebration or time to take a step back?

Yesterday (Tuesday) P. Diddy posted a video blog on his popular PTwittyTV YouTube page boasting that he had topped the 1 Million followers mark on Twitter.  Currently there are only around 10 members of the very elite 1 Million followers club on Twitter.  Others include Shaq, Late Night techy Jimmy Fallon and President Obama.  While both CNN and Ashton Kutcher, (who will soon top 2 Million) both recognized leaders of the new social networking platform, have spent a great deal of resources promoting and soliciting Oprah Winfrey on the other hand was able to surpass the million follower mark in little over a week while barely mentioning she subscribed to the service.  That’s interesting considering her target demo, mostly mothers aren’t really widely considered to be Twitter freaks.

I say this to point out that the milestone likely means more to Diddy than it does to anyone one else, a faux symbol of status or accomplishment likened to those certificates of merit you received in Sunday School just for showing up.  Having a lot of followers doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a good social networking.  Heck, the last tweet Oprah sent was almost 2 weeks ago but her followers continue to grow.

Bottom line is we’re still figuring out social media and as you can see from the video so is Diddy.  If 1 Million people actually tuned in to see Diddy dance in his seat while on his private jet listening to some beats on his laptop, its an indication we’re clearly a very bored society.  While I am a firm believer that the social networking has utility lets find a way to use it to do something positive.

You call having an entire show about signing up for Twitter and issuing her first tweet barely mentioning it? I think media has dulled our expectations clearly.

True…but i was speaking about more of her online voice. She’s not even actively using it. Its obvious she doesn’t get it or appreciate it but still is one of the most popular on the social network despite providing little to no content.

Juan, I like your attitude toward Twitter, but at the end of the day it’s a joke for most people. Tila Tequila has the most friends on Myspace, that shows you how that medium can hit the toliet as far as being used seriously. Now Twitter with Diddy, Shaq, Ashton Kutcher….it has become a fake symbol of status instead of a tool of actual friends and references.

Social media can be used for good and not just social implications. What I’m pointing out here is the fallacy that a large “friend/follower” contingent doesn’t necessarily mean that account provides anything useful. That doesn’t devalue Twitter, Facebook or other social networks it does however show that shepherding friends means nothing contrary to what Diddy would say.

The real statement that needs to be made here, is that this devil worshiper and all the others that claim they have a million followers or less that they are seeking to follow them, are posessed by the devil himself. take a good look he tells you himself, listen very closly he says his followers, who has follower but God or saintan himself. then he even points out the mark of the beast 666 on his ear phones. with him being in the middle, as #6 himself. PEOPLE WAKE-UP. We are in the last days and men and women are seeking self centerness and becoming wax cold too one another. Seek the Lord while he’s yet to be FOUND……. not man…………
GOD BLESS THE WORLD UNTIL HE (JESUS CHRIST RETURN)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
