T.I. Finally Reports To Jail (But Not Before a Send Off Worthy of a ‘King’)
Despite having his motion to delay his sentence denied, T.I. performs for a sold out crowd and brushes off the haters
After much fanfare, cameras, court motions and blog postings T.I. will report to prison in Forrest City, Arkansas today (Tuesday.) The entertainer, born Clifford Harris, Jr. had filed a petition to delay his sentence 10 days to secure a cell in a minimum-security prison near his home in Atlanta but the motion was denied. According to the Atlanta Journal Constitution the decision was upheld because T.I. had a prior offense that was designated as a serious violent felony though his lawyers argued the incident did not involve a weapon and “amounted to little more than a ‘scuffle’ at a mall.”
None the less, T.I. has been prepping for his “departure” by spending time with his family. As a final farewell, the entertainer headlined a concert at Philips Arena called the “Goodbye Bash.” Included on the bill was his Grand Hustle roster and several of ATL’s finest including B.o.B., Big Kuntry, Maino (NYC), Killer Mike, Soulja Boy, and DJ Greg Street. The event was sold out despite tickets going on sale just ten days prior.
And for his final bow, T.I. had a little something for the haters.
“For all you haters that said I was gonna get 20 years behind bars and for those that said you didn’t like me anyway, I forgive you! And for all my haters out there, I love you and give you the chance tonight to take back what you said about me.”
