‘Dolla’ Shooting Suspect Confesses, Claims Self-Defense
23 year old Aubrey Louis Berry says he openned fire after seeing Dolla reach for a weapon. The two had prior beef
All week the Hip Hop world has been morning the loss of yet another one of its sons, gunned down and taken far too soon. Now new details about that fateful day are becoming public and what the alleged suspect has to say might shock you.
According to the Los Angeles times, Aubrey Louis Berry (23?!) has confessed to the crime but is claiming self defense. Through a statement made by his lawyer, Berry said he opened fire only AFTER feeling threatened by the rapper while he stood at the valet waiting area of the Westside shopping center. Monday Berry was arrested for Dolla’s murder at the Los Angeles International Airport.
According to Berry’s attorney, Howard R. Price, the two men got into verbal beef at the
Platinum 21 Adult Entertainment club in Atlanta some time ago. The two happened to
run into each other again Monday in the restroom of P.F. Chang’s China
Bistro in the Beverly Center.
Feeling threatened, Berry alleges he left the the restaurant for the mall’s valet area to retreive his car. Dolla whose real name was Roderick Anthony Burton II, and two members of his entorage followed him. Berry alleges he openned fire after he saw what he perceived to be Dolla reaching for his waistband.
“This is not a murder case,” said Price.
“At worst it’s a manslaughter case, at best it’s a case of
self-defense,” he said.
I’m not buying it. Did the police department even say that Dolla was carrying a weapon? I’m sure if he was that would have been one of the first things they would have released in a statement. Now that they confirmed their previous beef I’m certain that it wasn’t accidental or even self defense. This cat didn’t feel threatened, he probably wanted to get back at Dolla for what happened in the past. He just didn’t think he was going to get caught. He needs to man up and say he took Dolla’s life out of anger and not try to take the safer route by saying it was self defense.
Well if he was at the valet, that probably means there were plenty of witnesses. Lets not try the man, give him his day in court.
You’re right Juan, I’m just venting and assuming with an angry mind not knowing all the facts. It just pisses me off to see another life taken away out of stupidity. Have we not learned anything from our past? This beef thing is getting out of hand. When will we learn how to be strong and know right from wrong? Think before we act! Everyone has a family, everyone has someone that loves them. Take that life away and you’ll be taking someone else’s life emotionally. Now we’ll never know what Dolla would have been capable of. I’m not saying he was the best out there but who would know? Same thing with Big L, Proof, Slim, and so many more….
this still bothers me bcuz it was so senseless and the boy dolla had mad potential and talent to do big things in hip hop. this blk on blk violence really needs to cease because its really destroying our youth and in the long haul hurting us all.
self defense plays the role of weapon in everybody’s life. learning self defense is very important for all of us.
