UPDATE: Tip Will Do 10 Months — NOT Two Months

Posted by C-Hyphen

Tip gets a break but not the break we thought

Mr. Harris hears Justice play music to his ears….

UPDATE: This clears up the confusion…MTV Explains

“When The Associated Press reported on Sunday that T.I. — due to report to the Forrest City low-security federal prison in Little Rock, Arkansas, on May 26 — had been given credit for 305 days of home detention, “so his stay at Forrest City prison will likely be only two months,” the news agency may have misread the sentencing report. The story has since spread on the Internet, but according to Charysse Alexander, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia, it is not accurate.

According to Alexander, the rapper was indeed given credit for the 305 days of home confinement he served while awaiting trial in the case, but that has nothing to do with his prison sentence…

Alexander explained that, at best, according to federal sentencing guidelines, anyone who serves more than one year in prison is eligible for a 15 percent “good time” credit, which in Tip’s case could shave almost 55 days off his sentence.

The confusion may have stemmed from mixing the credit for home confinement with the prison sentence, which are separate terms, Alexander said. Once T.I. completes the prison term, he will still have to serve out the remainder of his home confinement, she said, which will amount to about two months…”

Well it seems like rapper T.I., who’s due to surrender himself to federal authorities on May 26 by noon at Forrest City’s low-security federal prison, might have gotten one of the biggest ‘slap on the wrist’ sentences for the serious charges brought against him. Now let’s be clear here to avoid any confusion; Tip face a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge in his three-count indictment that were brought against him. Now these are of the I’llegal/Military/Silencers & Automatic Guns-type Charges to a Predicate Felon’ variety.

Now look it appears as though T.I. will only serve a possible 61 days in prison!?!?! Check it out for yourself:

Harris will be credited for 305 days of home detention he already has served after being charged, so his stay at the Forrest City prison likely will be only two months. — the AP

Is it me? Or is something not adding up…I’m not hating because I like T.I. so more power to him ( he has definitely adopted a postive lifestyle and been a positive influence to the youth since his arrest) but this belongs on some ‘Ripley’s Believe It or Not’ type ish.

His home confinement was no more than a curfew…he traveled wherever he wanted as long as he had the judge’s permission — to promote ‘Paper Trail’ (which was hot by the way lol!), performed at and picked up a couple of Grammy’s (see pic above), had plenty of performances & went to industry parties. When he was home he had his fam for company in a very nice home…I hardly call that confinement.

I know there are those that are out there that believe he dropped a dime and started singing like a bird; I personally don’t think he did (maybe I don’t want to think he did) but to some of  those out there who think he did snitch… this looks HIGHLY SUSPECT.

Considering the charges…What do you guys think? Justice Served, Definitely Snitched or Slap on the Wrist?

he has remorse. therefore they are lenient.

  2. B.E.B. says:

I think for what he was “going” to do, justice is served. I think it took him another big scare for him to straighten up. I don’t believe he snitched on anyone. The reason why he didn’t give a damn about the law back then was because he hadn’t reached his super-star status. Thats why Tip made a change, he realized how far he’s come and its better to stay out of trouble and make money than to be considered street and get locked up. Real Talk. If the rumors are true and he only does a 2 month bid then more power to him. Its not like he killed anyone, he was just trying to have protection, maybe he should have just stuck with the Desert Eagle…..

  3. Cahmodity says:

    Homie lucked up for sure.

  4. Shakes says:

he prolly got so pissed at alfamega that he spit all his bizness out….lol, but im glad he aint going for a long bid cuz he is deff one of the few rap artists im feeling right here lately. They prolly saw him as a reformed individual because of all the positive things he’s done in such a short amount of time.

  5. macika says:

im glad he isnt gonna be in lockup for long. need to get some of them bruhs outta there anyway.

  6. SiGGa CEE says:

It’s either a path that God made for him or he chose to trade his soul.

  7. BigBlock says:

Man I am from Atlanta. I got plenty homies doing hard time for less charges, then some rich nigga get jammed and all of a sudden it’s not so bad, after enough money is spreaded around.BULLSHIT! We are talking about a two time convicted FELON with military style weapons and silencers, man they would have erased my ass. Him and his camp thru Alfamega under the bus to keep your eyes off the real prize.I know a lot of homies that would talk to some bad ass kids, just to be able to see their on kids again. Cuz an honoray member of the APD if you ask me. Stay fair across the board, and stop sending the wrong messages.

  8. BDot says:

I’m not claiming to know as a fact he snitched, but something definitely isn’t adding up here:

Dude got a mighty light sentence for getting caught with illegal guns, with illegal silencers. He’s a two (three, or whatever) time felon so him possessing a gun PERIOD is a charge. I don’t have a record at all and I would’ve been doing about five easy for this.

Also worth noting is that one of his attorney’s is the same person that brokered Alfamega’s snitch deal.

And the “he got money” argument, spare me. The Feds have no mercy when it comes to rappers.

Pac (had no priors) went to jail on a far flimsier case. So did Suge. Jay-Z (no priors either), got three years parole for first degree assault (not even a weapons charge), and he has more money and celebrity than TI.

And hell, more recently, Prodigy (once again, no priors) caught three years for a loaded .22. A TWENTY-TWO, that barely qualifies as a real gun.

    The examples could go on.

Shit, this country at one point tried to BAN rap, PERIOD. We all know there’s nothing the Feds love more than to make an example out of a rapper. But the DA just happen to be a really big TI fan so they agreed to let this one ride right?

    You serious?

They spent about 6 months investigating dude. In the process, they got wiretaps on this man. They caught him in the act. And don’t forget the illegal weapons they went and pulled out of his house after his arrest. They had all the evidence in the world they needed to keep that 98% conviction rate going, and bury his ass under some jail in Alaska…but instead they let him cop to a year in jail, and three years probation?

Where in the world have you EVER heard of such a thing?
