T.I. Fires Label Protégé Following Blog’s Report That He’s a DEA Snitch

Posted by Juan

Alfamega worked for years as a DEA informant for sentence leniency and ultimately cost him his rap career

Alfamega

Last week while doing my usual morning peruse around the internet I came across yet another interesting revelation exhumed by the legal file gophers at The Smoking Gun. It seems that recently incarcerated emcee, T.I. has been employing a government snitch on his payroll for quite some time. According to court documents uncovered by the website, Cedric “Alfamega” Zellars, who records for T.I.’s Grand Hustle Entertainment once worked as DEA informant. The report likley came as a surprise to the T.I. who as we have learned has now since FIRED Zellars.

The 6’4″ Zellars, more commonly known around the office as The Grand Hustle Muscle is a convicted felon, has often been billed as T.I.’s protégé.  His lyrics oftne brag about his O.G. status laced with the traditional gun and murder talk very typical of formulaic rap these days.  However what is not surprisingly missing from his resume is his stint as a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) informant whose snitch sheet is apparently very impressive. According to court records, Zellars began working with law enforcement officials after he was sentenced in September 1995 to 110 months in a federal gun case.

I guess like with any gig you’re expected to indicate ALL your previous work experience even if it include u hindercover snitching.  My guess was that the omission was particularly offensive to T.I. who recently fell “victim” to the actions of another in Zellars same line of work.

“Even though all our artists and employees are asked by us to be honest and open about their past history, at no time did Alfa disclose to me or Grand Hustle what has now appeared in the media,” T.I., said during an interview on Atlanta’s 107.9.

“He essentially deceived us by failing to fully disclose the truth about his past, and there is no place in our organization for dishonest and misleading behavior,” he continued. “As I have always said, you must take responsibility for your own actions. We at Grand Hustle can not support or condone the blaming of others for our own mistakes. I hope and pray to God, bless his savings plans, but I don’t foresee me or my company playing a role in his personal or professional business.”‘

Something tells me the if it were his previous Starbucks work experience that Zellars failed to disclose, he’d still have a gig. For this one, I’m sending a strong salute to T.I.  Although publicaly he might put on a face of remorse and responsibility for his criminal actions, as the boss he can do what he wants to and well within the guidelines of employment he laid down the law and handed him a Donald.  “You’re Fired.”

none of these rappers out her are what they claim to be, they probably like to wear pink panties on their heads at night. I definitely feel where T.I. is coming from given his own personal situation but I can not be mad at a snitch that is doing their part in removing drugs off of the street whether he is doing it for selfish reasons or not. He snitched on a dealer that was running a very large heroin cartel, heroin kills and ruins lives so if he must snitch then so be it. I hope more people become snitches to drug dealers, there I said it.

What you fail to address here is that drug dealers and certain criminals keep a cache of intel on others around them, competition as collateral in which to negotiate with when they get caught. In most cases this is an eventuality. Jail is an occupational hazard for career criminals. So by reducing the sentences we’re putting the criminals back on the street quicker. The drugs don’t go to jail, just those that move them. I hear your argument but its slightly based in logical fallacy.

I hear what you are saying and I stand behind what I said. I HOPE more people start snitching on drug dealers they can easily cancel themselves out. This snitching nonsense is ridiculous in my opinion and is a part of a culture I can’t get with smh
