Common, Not Tyrese To Play B.A. Baracus in A-Team Remake

New director, Joe Carnahan scraps John Singletons plans to cast Tyrese

 Common

Apparently Tyrese will NOT play the role of B.A. Baracus in the upcoming film “A Team.” MovieWeb is reporting that producers have all but cast rapper turned developing actor, Common instead.

Rumors were a plenty last May when, John Singleton signed on with the film that he would select Tyrese Gibson to play Mr. T’s role in the TV remake following their relationship working on “Baby Boy” and “2 Fast 2 Furious” together. Another former Singleton actor, Ice Cube was also (and in my opinion, most appropriately) rumored to be attached to the film as well.

However, Singleton has since left the chaotic and slow developing project making way for new director, Joe Carnahan.  Carnahan and Common worked together on the (snoozer of a) film “Smokin’ Aces.”

When asked previously Tyrese had said that he probably would rock a mohawk but the character was scripted to be a more new school B.A. complete with the more Jesus piece type jewelry instead of the classic rope chains.  No word on what diretion Carnahan and Common will take.

The selection, to me, seems somewhat odd.  When If first found out about the film I was an advocate for Ving Rahmes but who am I?  Common is not yet a good actor and his demenor is very soft spoken.  I’m very interested to see if he can pull this off.  I’m not very confident.

I feel you, Juan. I like Ving Rahmes for that part too. He brings a maturity and old-skool tough guy aura with him.
