Today rapper/ ghostwritter Maino made headlines after video of him sobbing during a recent performance surfaced on the internet.  During an interview published by MTV, Maino claimed that an unidentified friend of his was shot in the back by police.

“I started getting a little emotional, about not just that, but my homie, my brother, who is a very important part in my life not just in my career. I can’t really say too much about the situation because it’s dealing with an ongoing investigation,” he continued. “I’ve been advised that I really couldn’t get into the specifics of the case, you feel me? But the fact of the matter is: The police shot him and it’s definitely unjustified, but that will all come out later on.” 

However Highbrid Nation has exclusively learned from an insider close to the New York City Police Department that Maino’s friend was in fact shot in the ass during an apparent murder attempt in Lafayette Gardens housing project in Brooklyn leaving him paralyzed.  (Ironically this is the same housing facility that run commercials on local cable seeking tenants as if its the chateau.  Clearly its not.)

According to the source, the shooting victim was not only involved in the crime but “Maino’s boy was in the middle of shooting [a third party] in the head, which he did, but didn’t realize he police officer was right there.”  The bullet apparently entered just above his ass and may have clipped his spine.  The source also indicated a .45 caliber Para Ordinance handgun was recovered from the man and is very confident that following the impending investigation that the incident will be ruled a “good shooting” or a justified by investigators. The report obviously contradicts the assertion made by Maino that the shooting was in someway in appropriate.
