IMAGE OF THE DAY: First Face Transplant In the U.S.

Connie Culp reveals her new grill 5 months after surgery to repair damage from near fatal shooting

Face Transplant

This is the face of 46 year-old Connie Culp.  Five years ago however in a greusome assault she was shot in the face by her husband leaving her physical appearance unrecognizable.  However due to the advancement in modern medicine and by the grace of God, Connie underwent a face transplant five months ago in Cleveland.

Before and After

While clearly her appearence before the shooting is more appealing than it is currently, consider what she looked like prior to the cosmetic surgery.  Despite it all, Culp is in great spirits.

“I guess I’m the one you came to see today,” she said at the Cleveland Clinic, where the groundbreaking operation was performed. But “I think it’s more important that you focus on the donor family that made it so I could have this person’s face.”

While culp’s expressions are still a bit wooden, The Associate Press reports she can talk, smile, smell and taste her food again. Her speech is at times a little tough to understand. Her face is bloated and squarish, and her skin droops in big folds that doctors plan to pare away as her circulation improves and her nerves grow, animating her new muscles.

Damn ! poor woman I do not wish it to my best enemy. They made her look like Quagmire though. I am thinking about another face Transplant Isabelle Dinoire who had been attacked by her own bulldog. He actually chewed 3 quarter of her face.

I see more facial surgery in her future but they obviously have to wait a while.

I have so many questions to ask about this, like.. what does a “Face Transplant” consist of? Like, I’m assuming the hair goes with it because her hair looks completely different. But I MUST say, this is INCREDIBLE and she looks amazing for the makeover!

this is just disgusting. and will also justify ‘other’ things that will happen in the future in the name od medicine. did u kno scientists were loppin off the heads of chimps and puttin them on diff chimp bodies and making them wrk!?? may have been crazy actin but they wrked. too many people playin God out there.. where does the $$$ come from to get that done anyway or are they willing guinea pigs?!?

hmph, the government is sneaky. Can you imagine how long they’ve had this type of technology and what else they may be capable of?! This reminds me of that john travolta and nicolas cage movie face/off. It seems like everything that appears in movies come to life, touch-screen phones, holograms, now face transplants! Whats next, a machine from eagel eye or do they already have that too?! I really don’t know.

  6. Juan says:

Yeah that’s what they’re doing with the terrorist. They’re doing face transplants so they’re no longer recognized and people think they’re dead.

  7. Juan says:

    damn heart goes out
