Serena Talking Sh*t: Williams Sister says ‘We All Know Who The Real #1 Is’
“Quite frankly, I’m the best in the world.”
What makes sports elite so much far superior to the competition? Is it skill? Is it an innate intellegence? or is it an overwhelming confident attitude? For tennis superstar, Serena Williams and many like her, its a natural combination of all three but its her confidence or dare I say arrogance that intimitates opponents. Of the official WTA rankings she recently said “We all know who the real number one is,” Williams proclaimed at a news conference at the Italian Open on Monday. “Quite frankly, I’m the best in the world.”
While I’m sure my homegirl Sheila from BlackTennisPros.com will undoubtedly agree, her comments have raised the eyebrows of critics who think the elite athlete is far too outspoken. However her resume speaks for itself. Williams, who disposed of Lucie Safarova from the Czech Republic 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 already has 10 grand slam singles titles to her credit while the the WTA’s current No. 1, Dinara Safina still has a bagel.
In a show of ultimate confidence when asked which opponent she feared most, Williams responded, “Probably myself. I always beat myself.”
So what does her Safina, the younger sister of former men’s number one Marat Safin say in her defense?
“She can say this because she won many more grand slams than me,” said the 23-year-old. “But she’s also older than me so she has more experience. So let’s see when I’m her age how many titles I have and then we can say.”
While it might be hard to duplicate her success, one doesn’t have to look far to find her secret. Its that “IT” factor that all the great ones have whether it be Walter Payton, Tiger, Jordan, or the many immortals before them. They will dominate you and they don’t care how you feel about it.
Herein lies the rub – tennis has always hated or at least disliked players that were not respectful, humble and gracious in public. Sleep with as many people as you like, rake up the divorces, but when you are in front of company – act like you’ve got some sense.
Serena is under the impression that she owns her own destiny. She doesn’t.
There are a number of very effective ways to marginalize her and ruin her career if traditional tennis tournament sponsors really get annoyed with her. This isn’t football. Its not basketball. And it sure aint boxing. Tennis players have to act like nice people. I can think of 3 famous tennis players who all suffered for lack of good attitude. At least one of them suffered greatly in the pockets. Now what you think they got in store for a black woman?
I sorta agree with some of that but the fact is that nobody can fuck wit her or Venus. When they are on the shit they are 1 and 2 in the world (no particular order), they are unbeatable in doubles play. what ever tournament that decides to not invite her to compete, will suffer because people will ask “would she have won if Serena was here”? Tennis needs her.
o h – and you know that rear end of her feels like two big rocks don’t you? I dated a semi-pro tennis player before. She was beautiful and quite frankly built better than Serena (with a much pretty face to match). Number 1 turn off? Buns of steel. Not cool. lol

Its a hard back. lol Anyone hear ever dated a serious female athlete, something that required pure muscle – like tennis, track and field, volleyball, or basketball at the college level? These women maybe beautiful but their asses don’t shake, jiggle, or feel soft. They feel like boulders. Hence the term – buns of steel. lol
A semi-pro tennis player is the term I used to describe someone that plays and wins all the local and regional tournaments. That has a coach that is looking for either an invite to train for the Olympics or a manager looking for an invite to sponsor her in the pros. My girl was a freshman in college and got scouted. She thought about the Olympics, but just wasn’t interested in the grind, not going to college right away etc. She was really good.
My bigger point is that tennis is one of the last hold outs. White people in the tennis commmunity, by and large, don’t like us. They really don’t. They represent the small percentage of citizens that hold the majority of the world’s wealth. They are uber rich and they don’t have to bend to new social norms, unless it lines their pockets. But when the revenue generator gets on their nerves, they have their ways of moving on. So I am suggesting that while Serena is by far the best female tennis player ever – she is still black and might wanna remember that when her manager is trying to get her endorsement deals and ad spots in lily white tennis mags.
Come on…Raise your hands in here…who really cares that Serena’s ass might not giggle as much as the next chicks?
Next, I agree with you about the good ole boy network but Serena doesn’t care about that, in fact she doesn’t care about setting records or longevity. She’s out to prove she can beat everyone’s ass TODAY and still profile on the red carpet while she’s doing it. That’s how she WINS!
Actually Serena does not care much about those silly endorsments , and its not about playing the “man” because she knows every penny she has she has sweated blood for that coin. while Maria Sharapova who is a nobody is getting all those products endorsement. Serena knows EXACTLY how her colour is perceived in term of marketing , she also knows her being up there is a problem to many. All thos tournament she has lost, she has lost them to her own sister. Yes she should fear herself because she has her game on point.
Safina who is bringing up the age “matter”. she is 4 years younger, but the age of 23 Serena had already won most of the slams. Safina is holding thi one cookie for a minute just because Serena has other businesses in mind.
Just because Serena is black doesnt mean she is supposed to be even more modest WTH! .
NB since veryone is talking about serena’s hard look. what about Amelie Mauresmo who is a dude ? she has as much muscles as Schwarzie and is a lesbian.

Good points all around. One thing that stands out by Sponsor is about the lilly-white, exclusive tennis circle. It’s the same with golf. After Tiger, any other Black golfers on the radar? (even though he “is not Black”). And whether we care or not, that racist/classist control is there. And “they” do shut us out of certain circles, except for the few exceptional ones, who neverteless have to acquiesce to them. Serena could care less about all this crap. This is why she is not in their little club and Tiger is.
Serena is serious, I don’t know about the overall best ever, but she’s definitely serious. PEACE!!!
