Jamie Foxx Confirms Tyson Theatrical Biopic
Actor to immortalize troubled boxer on the big screen
After winning over the critics with his Oscar winning performance as Ray Charles in “Ray,” Jamie Foxx has set his sights on his next biographical challenge, Mike Tyson. The actor/musician told WENN that he intends to create a theatrical biopics of the boxer’s troubled life story to the big screen. Last year Tyson hinted at such project in a New York Daily News article but until the film had only been rumored. However now the project seems imminent as Foxx tells WENN he’s already in talks to secure the rights for the film.
Presumably inspired by the current documentary, “Tyson” Foxx says
“I think I would have to play Mike Tyson. I’ve talked to Mike several times and his story is the most tragic American story. Mike’s story is about what America and the world is about today,” he added. “Coming up at 18 years old and getting his $60 million and not teaching him what taxes are about, about vultures, about people who will never be real with you as long as you have the money.”
Foxx, who first made a name for himself creating sidebusting characters on the television variety show “In Living Color” has since turned his creative prowess into one of the most saught after Hollywood comodities.

Jamie gets so deep into his characters this will definitely be a hit if produced right.
His impersonation skills matched with his increasing acting ability will make this pretty good. Will be interesting to see it matched against Ali.
I think the film will do well. Of course Jamie would need to bulk up a bit more but he’s got the talent to pull it off. I wonder if they’ll get T-Pain to play Don King? LOL
Lol! To bad Paul Winfield passed away he would have been perfect.
This will be an epic FAIL. First, Michael Jai White already played the lead in the HB0 interpretation of Tyson’s biopic. Plus, Jamie Foxx can’t play everybody. If we don’t stop his ego now, he’ll be trying to play Angela Bassett in “How Anna Mae Bullock Got Her Groove Back..After Ike Died”. Pardon the bad joke, but I think somebody else should play Mike. Real talk. Too many unemployed actors out there for us to keep using the B.S. excuse that you need a big name actor to sell certain movies. *BUZZER* You need a good marketing team and those big name actors to play good supporting roles.
I think it’s a mistake as well. Mike Tyson can not be potrayed by anyone without it being a “joke”. HOnestly, no one should play Mike especially after the film ‘Tyson’ came out. Mike being himself can not be topped.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT
jamie will shine
I think Foxx is the only one who can bring Mike’s larger than life personality to the screen. If you put a light weight in a heavy weights shoes they will look empty. Only Jordan came close to the worldwide celebrity that Tyson had at his peak. This will be one of the best films of it’s kind ever due to it being about Tyson, with Foxx doing the heavy lifting. A++
