Mary J. Blige Signs w/ William Morris
Agency will represent entertainer in all areas of her career from music to business
For many years, Mary J. Blige was on an extended quest to find herself spiritually. Fans of hers benefited from her internal struggle as the bi-product of her journey was passionate and heartfelt music. Now that the songstress is in a better place she’s just as focused on her music. But without the distraction of internal conflict she’s been able to broaden her horizons and expand her brand.
Leading her in her future endeavors will be The William Morris Agency which will now represent Blige in all facets of her career as well as the development of her entertainment outfit, Matriarch Entertainment. WMA also represents the likes of Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Eminem, Prince and Britney Spears among others.
The move spells the seperation from her former representation, ICM under which she released eight albums and moved over 48 million copies. William Morris will guide the Blige empire as she moves more into acting with upcoming gigs on “Entourage“, “30 Rock” and Tyler Perry‘s “I Can Do Bad All by Myself,” all on the docket for the coming year. The agency will also foster her corporate relationships with Chevrolet, Citibank and her partnership in the Brooklyn-based cosmetics company Carol’s Daughter.
