Diddy Announces ‘Last Train’ iTunes App, Lets Fans participate in Historic Mosaic
Promotion For Diddy’s ‘Last Train to Paris’…early and often
Regardless of what your personal thoughts Sean “Diddy” Combs might be there’s really no denying the man’s hustle. Whether its on MTV’s making the Band, “running the city” marathon while sporting the now all too popular mohawk, recording his DiddyTV video blogs or launching a campaign to become the most popular social networker in the world, Diddy is all about one thing…Promotion.
But what good is promotion if you have nothing to sell? While yes Diddy has been pumping his Sean John clothing and its affiliates, his colognes and TV programs the truth is he hasn’t released an album since his 2006 effort, Press Play. So when Puffy announced his upcoming project “Last Train to Paris” its no surprise that that the project might be the most digitally hyped album in history. Still over 5 months away from its anticipated Sept. 22 release date, the project is receiving the aggressive Diddy marketing treatment.
In addition to the vlog hype and the Twitter chatter, Diddy has announced he will be offering a free “LTTP” application through the Apple iTunes App store chock full of promotional goodies. Fans who download the app will have the ability to upload their own photos for submission for a massive project called Diddy’s train mosaic, a colage of images that will represent the album and be release some time this summer. The promo will give lucky fans the opportunity to be immortalized in Diddy music history forever. Additionally fans will receive an instant IAMDIDDY Twitter feed, giving fans exclusive news, content, and promotions.
Now Diddy has said all along that he’s trying to position the project not as an album but more as a conceptual journey set to music combining the hip hop, soul, funk and electronics to create a genre he calls ‘train music.’”
“‘Last Train to Paris’ is deeper than any of the other stuff I have ever made,” Diddy explains. “It’s a profound love story. It’s me with my shades off. It’s the truth.”
Look for this and more promotional tricks as we draw closer to the release.
