The ‘Skinny’ On Mike Jones: Lost 100 LBS On Jared’s Subway Diet

Posted by Juan

Talk about Eat “FRESH!” But where’s the endorsement deal?

Mike Jones

When Mike Jones bust on the scene a few years back it was his catchy nursery rhyme-esque lyrics and hooks that gained him popularity.  After the hype behind his nasal vocals and his very public cell phone number faded, Jones exited with little fanfare.  But it appears that Jones has been working hard on his come back not just in the studio but also in the gym.

Feeling the weight (literally) of a struggling career and his body mass, Jones says he dumped nearly 100 pounds following a diet of Subway and routine exercise.

“I was almost 300 pounds man. I lost almost 100. I’m 190 right now,” Mike told BallerStatus.com. “That goes from eating Subway, running on the treadmill, and watching what I eat. I’m trying to make sure I’m the urban Jared right here, baby.”

Subway Jared

Mike says he wanted to surprise the game with a whole new package.

I’ve been away from the market so long, I just wanted to come back with a new look, a new image, and a new sound. Really, the sound been here, but since people say it’s new, it’s new,” Mike says with a smile.

While Subway was very influential in his weightloss program it does not appear that the entertainer and his camp had the forsight to relay his hardwork into an endorsement deal.  Then again Jared only got paid AFTER he dropped the pounds.  With so many other silly Hip Hop endorsements out there…this is one that would actually MAKE SENSE.  The National Center for Disease Control (CDC) estimates that between 68-79% of African Americans age 20+ classify as “overweight.”  I would imagine a large percentage of those are Hip Hop fans.  Subway might do well to sign Jones up.  Think about how much fun they could have with the “Eat FRESH” slogan?  Subway drives traffic, Fans lose weight, Jones gets paid, I get a check for structuring the partnership and everyone is happy.  Video after the JUMP!

Hell yeah the “eat FRESH” slogan would go well with HipHop…an on top of that, Mike Jones can make it stiKk more than it ever has because he would repeat it OVER & OVER again on a catchy @$$ beat. I still got that cell number in my head…

oh my! i’m amazed at how much weight this young man has lost. But i remember some years ago that there was a rumor about rapper from Houston having HIV. It seem as if the diet would have stopped before he started looking sick. No endorsement deals.
