Timbaland Sues His Label: Claims Execs Blackballed Him
Lawsuit alleges sabotage, and unpaid debts. Seeks exit from his contract and unspecified damages.
Super Producer Timbaland has reportedly filed a lawsuit filed a lawsuit against his longtime record label, Blackground Records this week alleging that his longtime label home has been on a “search-and-destroy campaign,” designed to sabotage his career. The suit claims Blackground contacted several outlets throughout the industry trying to convince them not to work with Tim.
The friction allegedly first began when Timbaland’s career as a producer began to transcend the label following a brief but ineffective career as an artist. Timbo claims the label brass became envious of his success and vowed to sabotage any future endeavors.
Additionally, He claims the label owes him some dough. As part of the lawsuit Tim is seeking to break free from his contract, as well as seeking unspecified damages.
I wasn’t aware you could sue someone for jealousy. In that case let me call my lawyer right now cause a brother bout to get paid. No seriously this is about Timbaland trying to get out of his contract. He’s obviously trying to build a case of neglect and wrongdoing by his label who really doesn’t have much at this point. After Aaliyah died whatever music stronghold they had dissipated significantly. Obviously I’m not privy to the facts and its unfortunate Timbaland feels the need to drag the label through court proceedings but I guess business is business.
