This is silly. The cop needs to use some judgement in this instance. Forget the fact dude is an NFL player who cares that could be anyone. The point is he’s trying to expediate the process whatever it is so he can bounce and be with this mother-in-law. See this is why civilians and cops have a problem. They demand respect even when its not warranted and then act stupid when the could be of assitance.

State law says you could take whatever action you’re going to take, run his plates whatever while the second officer escorts him to be with his mother-in-law. Once they come back clean the second officer can come down.
